The Legend of Georgia McBride

He’s young, he’s broke, his landlord’s knocking at the door, and he’s just found out his wife is going to have a baby. To make matters even more desperate, Casey is struggling with his gig as an Elvis impersonator in a run-down, small-town Florida bar. When the bar owner brings in a B-level drag show to replace his act, Casey finds that he has a whole lot to learn about show business—and himself. This hip-shakin’ heartwarming tale explores what happens when one man trades in his blue suede shoes for platform pumps and discovers he ain’t nothin’ but a drag queen.

Leave Your Troubles At the Door – On Hiatus

Leave Your Troubles At the Door is on hiatus at Funhouse Lounge this month, April. Catch the show back in its normal slot at its normal spot in May!

Leave Your Troubles at The Door is a stand-up comedy showcase where the audience’s problems are the topics of the jokes on stage. Audience members write their problems / troubles down on pieces of paper, put them in a box before the show and then many of the best & up-and-coming comedians from the Pacific Northwest and beyond take on those issues with their on-the-spot jokes. It’s a rare comedy show where instead of the comedian joking about their problems, they joke about yours! You’re more than likely to walk away from the show feeling at least slightly better about your problems. Just leave ’em by the door

First Friday of the month, doors at 10:00 pm/show at 10:30pm

21+ ONLY

The Silver Age of Love

LAnton Belov, baritone with Oleg Timofeyev, Russian 7-String Guitar The program includes favorite gems of the repertoire Coachman, don’t Hurry the Horses, Emerald, Your Green Eyes, I Loved You Once, and many others.

Russia has a long tradition of passionate, expressive songs that transcend the categories of classical and popular. The roots of these passionate “romances” extend deep into the folk tradition and exhibit influences that extend from Romani and Jewish music to Italian opera, and even Argentine tango. For this program baritone Anton Belov will collaborate with Oleg Timofeyev, a champion of a uniquely Russian instrument, the famed 7-string guitar.

About the Artists:

The voice of baritone ANTON BELOV has been called “rich and mellifluous” by the New York Times, while the Philadelphia Inquirer described him as “an emerging star.” He earned praise from critics and audiences alike for his portrayals of Eugene Onegin, Don Giovanni, Germont (La Traviata), Count di Luna (Il trovatore), and Escamillo in Carmen. Mr. Belov performed throughout the United States appearing with Boston Lyric Opera, Portland Opera, Opera Boston, Opera Delaware, Connecticut Grand Opera, Tacoma Opera, Opera New Jersey, Eugene Opera, as well as Boston Baroque, Opera Orchestra of New York, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (at Carnegie Hall), the California Symphony, The Oregon Symphony, The Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Las Vegas Philharmonic, and Colorado Symphony. A native of Moscow, Anton Belov holds a Doctorate of Music degree from Boston University, a Bachelor of Music Degree from The New England Conservatory, an Artist’s Diploma and a Master of Music Degree from The Juilliard School. Dr. Belov is an associate professor of music at Linfield University in McMinnville, Oregon.

Originally from Moscow and now living in the United States, OLEG TIMOFEYEV holds an M.A. in Early Music Performance from the University of Southern California (1993), and a Ph.D. in Performance Practice from Duke University (1999). Since 1983 he has been performing early music on original instruments of the plucked family (lute, guitar). In 1989 this interest brought him to the United States, where he studied with Patrick O’Brien, James Tyler, and Hopkinson Smith. His recording début occurred in 1999 with a solo lute album and the groundbreaking The Golden Age of the Russian Guitar, which has won high praise in America and abroad. He appears widely in concerts in the United States and Europe, and his valuable researches into music from Russia and the former Soviet Union have revealed to a wider public music of much interest. Oleg Timofeyev teaches guitar at Grinnell College, and offers seminars on Russian literature, culture, and film at the University of Iowa.

Die Hard the Musical Parody – Streaming Event

In 2017, Funhouse Lounge presented its first original work of its kind, Die Hard the Musical Parody. It was a live stage version of the 1988 Willis/Rickman action classic, re-imagined as a musical. During its 3-year sold-out run, it became a holiday tradition for many who came to see it.

We are happy to say it has returned last and this year, live on stage, for another sold-out run. However, we understand that some of you may not be comfortable gathering to see it. Or, you waited too long and didn’t get tickets. Or, you don’t live nearby, but still like stuff that kicks ass. Or maybe you want to enjoy it with friends and family on that big screen TV at home. If any of these describe you, we have what you need.

We will have a recording of this year’s performance that will be available to watch streaming this Christmas weekend. Showtimes are December 24th, 25th and 26th.

So, treat yourself to a present you deserve after another long hard year. Gather your family around the TV. Make your favorite hot drink, remembering that the drunker you are, the funnier you are.

Welcome to the party, pal!
