Funhouse Lounge

Auditions for TheatreSports–round 2!

**THIS EVENT IS POSTPONED**

We held auditions this past week, and got a lot of good players. But there were also a lot of players who couldn’t make it to the Tuesday audition. So, we have scheduled one more audition on a Sunday, to make it easier.
So, if you missed your chance, here’s one more.

Audition for TheatreSports: the first and most popular format created by legendary improv guru Keith Johnstone. TheatreSports combines the thrill of sports with the creativity of theater. Two teams of improvisers compete to win the show, aided by a referee and three judges.

The Funhouse Lounge has just acquired the license for this internationally-renowned improv format, and we will be forming a brand new troupe to perform it.

*Rehearsals will be on Wednesdays, 6:30-9:00pm, and performances will be Fridays at 10:00pm. In addition, you will have the opportunity to play in other Funhouse improv shows.

*Audition time: POSTPONED TEMPORARILY

Please email  andy@funhouselounge.com  to reserve a spot in the audition. Previous improv experience is definitely a plus.

18+ please

Strapped In

**APRIL’S SHOW IS POSTPONED**

$8 cover | 21+ | 10pm-2am | show at midnight

You showed up for us at our January resurrection in a BIG way, so this thing is quarterly now, folks! If you were there, YOU DID THAT! If you weren’t, LET’S DO THIS!

Strapped In is a queer party for the rest of us.

The world is a divisive, hard place to live right now — and queer spaces aren’t immune. Strapped In is about creating a culture of welcome through queer nightlife — consider it a love letter, written by and for all who show up.

(More about what Strapped In stands for at the end of this post!)

Dancing all night, queer af drag show at midnight!

Throw on whatever makes you feel happy, sexy, and free (Your thigh highs and jockstrap….your harness and lace…your t-shirt and jeans… you decide!) and meet us at Funhouse Lounge!

Host: Sugarpill

Performances from:
– Nightmare Ada
Jaxin Ryan
– Mona Chrome

Gogos:
– Viper
– Joni
Jo
– Carly

Design: Zepheur

Photography: Austin Mckee

** Strapped In strives to be a body-positive, sex-positive, all-gender space working to minimize oppressive forces of racism, misogyny, transphobia, and the like. We need your help with that! Please keep yourself and others accountable. Consent is mandatory—ask before touching, and only yes means yes. Reach out to a member of the Funhouse Lounge staff or someone involved in the event if you need help or feel unsafe!

Venue is ADA Accessible, though it may be difficult to navigate hallways/doorways with some mobility devices. Please reach out to Funhouse Lounge first with specific questions (they know the venue best!), but don’t hesitate to contact Sugarpill!

STRAPPED IN IS…

QUEER
All of us who produce, perform in, DJ, and gogo at Strapped In are queer as fuck. Most of us are trans. We’re creating the world we want to live in.

KIND
The world is a hard place. The queer community isn’t immune to that, but it shouldn’t be that way. It’s difficult enough for people like us, so don’t treat each other like shit. We welcome each other, and together we respect the night.

SEXY
We say it often, and we mean it — kindness is sexy. Queer sexuality shouldn’t be taboo. Several folks have told us that Strapped In is one of the queerest nights in town, and the first public event they felt comfortable wearing a jockstrap to. Our bodies — all of them — are beautiful. Our love — all of it — is beautiful. We — all of us — are beautiful.

IN PROGRESS
This night exists because there’s something missing from queer nightlife. We don’t claim to know exactly what that is. We provide easy opportunities for feedback and are ready to grow with you.

Pulp Fiction, the Musical Parody

Based on the smash 1994 Quentin Tarantino film, “Pulp Fiction, the Musical Parody” is chock full of all the things you want in a musical: blood, guts, violence,  non-linear storytelling, sex, drugs, fixed fights, dead body disposal, the gimp, a mysterious briefcase and a wristwatch that makes a dark journey down through the generations.

Hot on the heels of annual fan-favorite “Die Hard, the Musical Parody”, this show promises to bring that same twisted Funhouse sense of humor, courtesy of writer/director Andy Barrett and composer/musical director James Liptak.

Featuring Portland treasures Landy Lamb, Sean Ryan Lamb, James R. Dixon, Sara King, Kristin Barrett, Bethany Ziskind, and Bill Christensen.

PLEASE NOTE: The performances scheduled for March 24th, 25th and 26th have been rescheduled to the following week. All tickets purchased for those days will apply to the next weekend. PLEASE let us know as soon as possible if those dates won’t work for you and we’ll make appropriate arrangements. info@funhouselounge.com.

*This is an all ages show, however this show is Rated R for depictions of violence, adult language/themes, sexual situations, depictions of drug usage/general Tarantino stuff. Please use your discretion when bringing minors.

Showtimes/dates are 7:00 Thursdays-Saturday, Feb 24th-Mar 26th

Doors will open 30 minutes before showtime.
