Cabaret

A government bent on silencing the media and cleansing its citizenry; lies and corruption dominate the headlines; nationalism slowly infects us and our neighbors start to disappear.

Outside… life is disappointing. But in the Kit Kat Klub… life is BEAUTIFUL!!

Come witness an event unlike any other in Portland as Fuse Theatre Ensemble and The OUTwright Theatre Festival present a site-specific rendering of queer icons John Kander and Fred Ebb’s most iconic musical, Cabaret. Step back in time to investigate the present as last century’s headlines become today’s tweets and we are reminded once again how society can creep slowly towards fascism without even realizing it.

There is no use permitting the Prophet of Doom to wipe every smile away. Life is a Cabaret, old chum. Come to the Cabaret!!

The Trail to Oregon

Witness our intrepid family of pioneers, who the audience will name, as they leave it all behind and trek across this great land of ours. “The Trail to Oregon!” is an original musical written by StarKid, the same people who wrote last year’s Funhouse smash hit “Twisted”.

It is also the most absurd and yet historically accurate musical portraying the Oregon Trail to date; featuring 12 educational songs, a set precisely replicating the trail’s landscape, and appearances from famous historical figures, such as: Henry McDoon, Cletus Jones, and Cornwallis.

It’s the best musical about the Oregon Trail you’ll see this year!

Point Break LIVE!

Funhouse Lounge is totally stoked to bring back the smash hit: Point Break LIVE!, an over-the-top stage adaptation of the 1991 Keanu Reeves/Patrick Swayze extreme sports blockbuster, Point Break.

The audience doesn’t just watch this show, they are part of it. Each night, the audience chooses who will play “Johnny Utah” from a group of audience volunteers who audition for the role. The lucky winner gets his/her lines via cue-cards so as to capture the *raw acting talent* of Keanu himself. But there’s more; from being robbed by bank robbers in presidential masks, to be doused with spray from the surf, the audience is fully immersed in this show (fake money and ponchos are available at the door).

Point Break LIVE! ran for 9 years in San Francisco, 6 years in LA, and is currently enjoying a successful run in New York. Don’t miss out on what promises to be a totally tubular, bitchin’ rush like nothing else in Portland. Live the Ride, bra’!

Tickets start at $25.

SHOWTIMES: Thursdays-Saturdays, 7:00 pm, doors at 6:30 pm

Special late nite show on Saturday, 3/18, at 10 pm. Ticket available here: Late Nite Point Break, LIVE!

All ages welcome–this show is rated PG-13ish/R for adult language, themes, sexual situations and totally tubular surfing.
